Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant, as well as mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. He is the younger brother of Athena who is a drummer. Lee was only two years old [4] when his father moved his family on a trip to the United States. Lee received his first drums at the age of four, and his first drum kit at the age of an adult. Lee quit high school to pursue music as a career starting with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. 5 He was a young man who was a fan of Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his main drumming inspirations. Terry Bozzio has also been a major influence.
